According to South Korea, the news is part of its efforts to provide more security for those looking for a good phone in the corporate world. However, the update system should work differently and everything will depend on the device.

In a brief statement, Samsung explains that the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 should receive monthly security updates for three years, while in the last year of the cycle updates will only be quarterly.

Galaxy A and XCover devices only receive quarterly updates during the four years. The company also ensures that Enterprise line phones reach the consumer with enhanced support, such as a three-year warranty and technical support available at any time.

Commenting on the Enterprise program update, Conor Pierce, Samsung's UK chief, said the program now meets the highest security standards:

This is the commitment we make to companies when they have a Samsung Enterprise device. Our turnkey solutions mean customers can easily set up and run a seamless enterprise mobile

For now, we do not know if this initiative will also be taken to other markets.

Researchers increase the reach of a WiFi network of more than 60 meters thanks to a software find

Researchers have succeeded in extending the initial range of a WiFi network by 67 meters via a new protocol that could, theoretically, be installed on all internet modems.

While home automation is booming, WiFi struggles to follow and cover every corner of our homes (connected). Of course, there are solutions to expand the reach of your WiFi network, such as Google's Nest products , or Amazon's Eero routers, but there is another much simpler way to extend your WiFi network. in a software way the range of its WiFi of more than 60 meters, notes Engadget.

Researchers have unveiled a new protocol called ONPC , for On-Off Noise Power Communication. The principle of this protocol: keep the signal at all costs, even if the bit rate is only one bit per second . Indeed, the WiFi requires at least a rate of one megabit per second to maintain the active signal, and cuts if the flow is too low, which, according to researchers, would have a significant impact on its scope. By maintaining a permanent connection, whether through low data rates, or, if no device is connected, simple digital noise, this allows the WiFi network to be more stable and to always transmit something."Basically, it's about sending a bit of information to say it's alive (the network)," says Professor Neal Patawri of Washington University in St. Louis.

This system allowed researchers to extend the reach of a 67-meter WiFi network beyond the theoretical scope of the device being used. Rather than investing in a WiFi router to improve its network, this protocol has the advantage of being theoretically deployed in software on any Internet modem.

Google is looking for internal dissidents by spying on PCs, employees are rebelling

The tug of war between Google and its employees continues, and this time the Mountain View company is accused of having created a new tool with which to spy on workers , in order to intercept any meetings organized by dissidents. The charge is very serious and emerged through an internal memo obtained from Bloomberg . Let's go with order.

The tool in question is an extension of Chrome that is integrated - without the possibility of being removed - on all the corporate devices supplied with the employees. This detects whenever a person organizes an event on Calendar and sends the invitation to 100 or more colleagues , reporting the action to the company.

The existence of this tool emerged last September, at the beginning of October Google employees began to discuss the issue and later some of these found themselves unable to access the documents related to the project, increasing the discontent in the compared to what is considered as a control tool.

The accusation, in fact, claims that Google has created the extension to automatically identify all the people who could organize meetings in which "subversive" issues are discussed with the company, thus undermining internal freedom and the right to discuss practices implemented by Mountain View.

The official position of the company, expressed by Alphabet , is to categorically deny any accusation , stating that the instrument meets all safety, ethical and privacy standards. According to the Group, its main use would be to reduce internal spam , reminding employees not to add too many colleagues to their events, so as not to create unnecessary hassles. The company claims that the tool does not send information that allows for the precise identification of the employee who created the event.

This story is only the last to highlight the internal discontent that has long characterized Google. Whether it is the protests against silences about the alleged cases of harassment , the disputes about the collaboration with the Department of defense or the disapproval of the attempt to return to China with a questionable project , it seems that the company's corporate policies are not welcome to a good part of Google employees.

Arm announces the new Mali-G57 GPU and two new low-end NPUs

Arm has announced important news regarding the offer of GPUs, NPUs and DPUs dedicated to SoCs that we will find in medium and low-end devices.

Let's start with the juiciest announcement, or the one related to the new Mali-G57 , a GPU based on the same Valhalla architecture as Mali-G77 and which brings some high-end features to a more popular market segment. Compared to the Mali-G52 - which is in fact replaced by the G57 - we find an improvement in energy performance and performance by 30% , while it goes to 60% in the case of calculations related to Machine Learning (all with the same production process ). The most attentive will have noticed that these are the same increases reported at the launch of Mali-G77.

Please support by visiting the ads in the post your little click can help us to keep posting stuff beneficial, please leave a comment if you have any suggestions: Thank you 😊

As for configurations, Mali-G57 can be implemented in variants that contain 1 to 6 cores . We obviously find support for the Vulkan API , the ability to reproduce 4K and 8K content, higher performance when using AR and VR applications and a doubling of texturing performance (compared to G52). There is also the possibility of calculating volumetric lights , HDR rendering support , PBR (Physical Based Rendering), all in order to clearly improve gaming performance (but not only) even on devices not belonging to the highest market segments.

Arm also announced the NPUs Ethos-N57 and N37 , dedicated to two different market segments. The first is specialized to operate more efficiently in scenarios related to Machine Learning that require performance around 2TOP / s , while the second is more specialized to work on values of 1TOP / s .

The Ethos-N57 is therefore a mid-range solution that offers a very balanced performance / consumption ratio, while Ethos-N37 allows the introduction of a dedicated NPU also on low-end smartphones. Remember that the premium segment is covered by the Ethos-N77. For its new NPUs, Ethos Arm speaks of performance that is 200% higher than competing solutions of the same category.

Finally we find the new DPU (Display Processor Unit) Mali-D37 , which promises to improve energy efficiency by 30% in the management of displays with FullHD and 2K resolution, all occupying a surface equal to 1mm² (with production process at 16nm). Mali-D37 allows the GPU to be relieved of various tasks and includes many of the premium features we have seen on the Mali-D71, such as the composition of HDR images on SDR panels and mixed HDR-SDR content, when used in conjunction with the ' Arm Assertive Display 5

Galaxy fingerprint login disabled' spreads to China

Temporarily stop fingerprint recognition function and switch password login"

According to China's daily economy on the 22nd, the Bank of China temporarily disabled fingerprint login in the Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 10, and Galaxy Tab S6 device mobile banking. Instead, they reportedly switched to unlock with a password.

The Bank of China has decided to take such measures to ensure login security, and said it will pay close attention to Samsung's resolution and take corresponding measures.

The controversy has arisen when the Samsung Note 10 and Galaxy S10 series cover the silicon case, unlocking fingerprints or objects that are not specified by others.

Particularly, domestic financial sectors are making urgent notices due to unexpected damages to users who use payment services through fingerprint recognition. If you use the smartphone, you are asked to cancel fingerprint authentication or use another authentication method until the problem is solved.

Samsung Electronics announced on August 18 that it will carry out a software update to correct fingerprint recognition errors for Galaxy Note 10, Note 10 Plus, Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10 5G. The update will be rolled out this week.

Samsung Electronics said, "If you use the front cover, the cover pattern of some covers is recognized as a fingerprint and the lock is unlocked." Please register a new fingerprint. "

Microsoft named Android the best operating system for its new product

Android is being developed by Google, one of Microsoft’s largest competitors.

Earlier this month, Microsoft introduced a dual-screen smartphone called the Surface Duo . In this device, not only the design turned out to be strange, but also the operating system on which it works.

Yes, Microsoft decided to opt for Android 10, while Android is being developed by Google, which is one of Microsoft’s largest competitors. Despite this, Panos Panay, who is the director of new product development at Microsoft's hardware division, made the following statement: “Android is the best operating system for this product.”

It is worth recalling that Microsoft has already tried its luck with the Windows Mobile operating system. Unfortunately, this operating system has not passed the test of time for several reasons. One of the most notable was the lack of high-quality applications.

Microsoft has refused to develop an OS for mobile devices, but it still does not want to leave the smartphone industry, especially with the advent of folding hybrid form factors. Microsoft also does not want the story to repeat, so the company chose the most popular mobile OS.

Huawei Mate X should be released in two versions and have leaked prices

Speculated to be launched in China next Wednesday, October 23, Huawei Mate X had its prices leaked on Monday (21) and will reach the Asian country in two versions, according to the source.

According to the Huawei Central website , one of the informants confirms the date for this week. In addition, the Chinese-branded folding smartphone would have a more basic model equipped with the Kirin 980 chipset + Balong 5000 5G modem, and another more sophisticated one with Kirin 990 5G chipset .

Alleged Prices

The variant with the older platform would be priced at 9,999 Yuan (~ $ 5,800), while the version that comes with the company's latest high-end chipset would reach 13,999 Yuan (~ $ 8,200).

Compared to what was announced in Europe in February this year, Mate X would have a significant reduction in its value - in both editions. At the time, the Huawei folding was announced for € 2,299 (~ $ 10,600).

In its technical specs presented earlier this year, the Huawei Mate X features a 6.6-inch primary and 6.38-inch secondary display with a total of 8 inches; 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.

Its photo lens set consists of three 40 MP + 16 MP (ultra-wide) + 8 MP (telephoto) cameras, plus a ToF sensor for depth effects. To top it off, there is the 4,500 mAh dual battery and Android 9 Pie as operating system.

What are your expectations for the release of Mate X? Share with us your opinion!

OnePlus will produce a dual-mode 5G smartphone, just like Oppo

OnePlus has confirmed that it will produce a 5G dual-mode smartphone and will present it in China later this year. It is particularly interesting news when compared to the practically identical one disclosed by Oppo a few days ago . Meanwhile, it is good to explain what "dual-mode" means: a modem of this type is able to connect both to NSA networks (Non-Standalone, which before connecting to 5G must pass through a previous generation network) and to those SA (Standalone). The NSA networks were designed as an intermediate solution to guarantee 5G an early arrival on the market.

Few additional details released by OnePlus. In his interview, Pete Lau (founder and CEO) said it will be presented in China in the fourth quarter, but did not specify whether it will remain exclusive to that market or when it will actually be put up for sale. Mystery also on the name .

Given that OnePlus and Oppo are very closely linked (in particular, smartphones from a couple of years ago were almost difficult to distinguish ), it is very easy to assume that the project being developed is in fact unique, which will then be customized according to the tastes of each producer. If so, it is therefore likely that even in this smartphone we will find a SoC in some ways surprising, since it will not be a top of the range: it should be called Snapdragon 7250 , and it will be midrange. For now there are no details on the specifications.

The OnePlus 7T is now available for purchase in the U.S.

OnePlus announced its newest flagship handset, the 7T, on September 26. As promised, it begins shipping today. You can pick up an unlocked unit from the firm's website, or you can grab one from T-Mobile.

The OnePlus 7T includes the buttery-smooth 90Hz OLED display that was previously only found in the OnePlus 7 Pro. It's 1080p on the non-Pro though, rather than 1440p. If you do want those extra pixels, there is a OnePlus 7T Pro, but it's not coming to the U.S.

It has a triple-lens camera in a new circular housing, with the main sensor coming in at 48 megapixels. Additionally, it has a 16MP 117-degree wide-angle lens, and a 12MP 2x zoom lens. Naturally, it supports things like 4K 60fps video capture, OIS, and EIS.

The 7T is powered by Qualcomm's newest chipset, the Snapdragon 855+, an SoC that's really built for gaming phones. It also comes with 8GB RAM and a 3,800mAh battery; moreover, it supports Warp Charge 30T, which OnePlus says is 23% faster than Warp Charge 30.

All of this comes in at a $599 price point. You can check it out on, and you can pick it up from T-Mobile. It comes in Glacier Blue and Frosted Silver.

Nokia may launch smartphone with waterfall screen, rumor reveals

About a month ago, we saw the officialization by Chinese Vivo of the first device with the concept of waterfall screen presented by the brand , aiming to considerably increase the utilization in body / screen ratio.

Following this trend, recent rumors point out that Nokia's HMD Global may follow the same path and present a concept similar to the Vivo NEX 3.

According to the recent conceptual renderings, the handset will feature a tiny upper edge for the availability of sensors, camera, speaker and logo (right-aligned). From the bottom, you can see a subtle edge, narrower than the top view of the device.

Another aspect of rendering is the underside of the device, featuring a USB-C cable slot, a right-aligned speaker, and a microphone for capturing audio during calls. It is also noticeable that the handset apparently will not feature P2 input, a trend that is gradually being adopted by brands.

It is also possible to see in the images a partial rear, revealing the cameras housed in the traditional round frame, thus referring to the already discontinued Nokia 1020 combined with Nokia 9 Pureview, thanks to multiple cameras with Zeiss lens.

For now, there is no conclusive information about the arrival of a Nokia handset in this way but it would really be curious to see the brand betting on something so bold on their handsets.

So, what is your opinion about the images? Would you like such a device or find it unnecessary? Tell us in the comments!

After the Intel Core X 10a gen processors presented earlier this month | Intel Core-X 10a gen and Xeon W-2200: up to 18 cores and half prices | many expect the AMD response with Ryzen ThreadRipper 3rd gen at 7nm (3000 series), expected on the market for November, as confirmed by the company in its latest release | AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper 3000 processors, debut scheduled for November .

According to the recent videocardz report , based on a confidential document apparently from internal AMD sources, the new ThreadRipper CPUs will be unveiled on November 5th together with the next-generation TRX40 chipset . More specifically, the document suggests that on November 5th there will be a so-called "paper launch", an occasion in which AMD will reveal to the public the new line of processors led by the Ryzen ThreadRipper 3990X , flanked by the ThreadRipper 3970X and ThreadRipper 3960X models and the TRX40 chipset.

Two weeks later, on November 19th, AMD will remove the embargo on Ryzen ThreadRipper 3970X and ThreadRipper 3960X processors (with related reviews) and the first motherboards based on the TRX40 platform. As for the top model, Ryzen ThreadRipper 3990X , the specifications will be released only in January 2020 , close to the actual availability on the market.

The aforementioned document does not refer to the technical characteristics of the new chips (number of cores, frequencies, TDP etc.), however, the recent sighting on the Ashes of the Singularity database of the Ryzen ThreadRipper 3960X with 24 cores (link in VIA ) suggests that AMD could present at least 4 models. Here's how the new Ryzen ThreadRipper 3000 lineup could be made up:

Ryzen ThreadRipper 3960X: 24 cores / 48 threads

Ryzen ThreadRipper 3970X: 32core / 64 threads

Ryzen ThreadRipper 3980 (W) X: 48core / 96 threads (?)

Ryzen ThreadRiper 3990 (W): 64core / 128 threads

For the moment, AMD has not commented on the news, so we await further developments and above all direct confirmation from the manufacturer

Facebook investigated for the acquisitions of WhatsApp, Instagram and other companies

If you can't beat them, allies or, better yet, buy them . It is an extreme synthesis, but it gives an idea of the suspicions about the anticompetitive practices that led the US FTC (Federal Trade Commission) to the decision to investigate the work of Facebook in relation to the numerous acquisitions made over the years. Those of WhatsApp (in 2014) and Instagram (in 2012) are the best known, but are placed in a more articulated strategy through which the company of Mark Zuckerberg has incorporated about 90 companies in the last 15 years.

The purpose of the investigation, which is now brought to the media's attention by The Wall Street Journal , is to establish the exact motivation that prompted Facebook to start such a massive '' buying campaign ' ': it was motivated by the legitimate desire to strengthen the resources at its disposal and to expand business activities or the desire to eliminate potential competitors?

Facebook obviously favors the first hypothesis: during the convening at the United States Congress on 16 July as part of the important Antitrust investigation against web giants , Matt Perault , head of Global Policy Development at Facebook, said that these operations they gave an impulse to innovation and allowed to bring together companies with peculiarities and complementary strengths. The startups and companies that joined Facebook, according to Perault:

as part of Facebook they had more chances to innovate than they would have had on their own.

Among the acquisitions that could be passed under the magnifying glass of the FTC is that of 2013 by Onavo Mobile : as recalled by the US daily, Facebook has used its technology to collect data in order to identify promising companies or new product categories /services. The acquisition of WhatsApp would have been decided precisely by analyzing the data collected by the Onavo Protect app, removed in recent months from the Play Store .

We will have to wait for the outcome of the investigations conducted by the FTC to establish whether the Facebook strategy violates the competition rules. If the social network giant were found guilty, various scenarios would open up: from the cancellation of some of the acquisitions - it is an idea supported by a certain part of the US political class , and not only in relation to Facebook - to the application of limits to the use of acquired resources.

A new difficult period is on the horizon for Facebook, after the record $ 5 billion fine that the FTC ordered last July .

Linux Mint 19.2 released to the general public

Following a two-week beta phase, the team behind Linux Mint has announced the final release of Linux Mint 19.2. Three editions of the release are available and include the Cinnamon desktop, MATE desktop, and the Xfce desktop. Cinnamon is the main edition while Xfce is oriented toward less powerful computers. MATE is good for those people who prefer the more traditional GNOME 2 experience.

The Cinnamon edition ships with Cinnamon 4.2 which comes with better performance, improved handling of Flatpaks in menus, updated scroll bar settings, better Samba support, and file pinning. The MATE edition comes with MATE 1.22 which brings improved stability and bug fixes, support for metacity-3 themes, better systemd support, desktop notifications for long-running file operations, and a handful of other small tweaks that add a bit of polish to the desktop experience. The Xfce edition ships with Xfce 4.12 which is the same as what shipped in Linux Mint 19.1 so you shouldn’t see much difference with this edition.

There are several changes that apply to all of the editions. The Update Manager now handles kernels better, users can see how long kernel are supported for, you can queue multiple kernels for installation and removal, rather than one by one, and a remove kernels button was added to remove old kernels quickly. There are some other nice additions in the Update Manager such as 90-day warnings before your Linux Mint version expires giving you time to upgrade.

Other changes include XApps improvements, the addition of the Boot-Repair tool to ISO images making it easy to fix boot configuration issues, and theming improvements for better readability. Finally, 22 new wallpapers were added, as is customary, giving you the option to further refresh the look of your desktop.

If you’d like to download the newest version of Linux Mint, head on over to the project website and follow the links through to the edition you’d like to download. If you are planning to upgrade from an older version of Linux Mint, an upgrade path will be made available shortly.
