Honor 9X to debut on July 23 with the 7nm-based Kirin 810 SoC

Huawei's sub-brand, Honor, has teased the upcoming debut of its next mid-range phone on July 23 in China. The Honor 9X will be the successor to the legacy Honor 8X and it will be powered by a Kirin 810 SoC.

Honor CEO George Zhao posted on Weibo the teaser photo for the upcoming phone. It is worth noting that the Honor 9X will be the firm's first mid-range handset to be powered by a 7nm-based chipset, as per Android Central. Huawei unveiled the Kirin 810 mobile platform late last month with an octa-core CPU comprising two ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.27GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.88GHz.

Key specs and features of the Honor 9X remain a mystery for now. Nonetheless, Honor's confirmation of its unveiling later this month is a piece of welcome news for fans of the Chinese tech firm amid the recent challenges faced by Huawei. Fortunately for Huawei, though, the Trump administration said late last week during the G20 summit held in Japan that it would allow the company to purchase products from U.S. companies again.
