PlayStation 5: Sony confirms Crossplay between PS4 & PS5 console

The PlayStation 5 will not only be backwards compatible with PS4 games, but will also enable crossplay with old console users. In addition, Sony confirmed that the PlayStation 4 after the release of the PS5 still be supplied with new games.

Not every console player will resort to the launch of a new PlayStation 5 . Many may wait for a lower price, better bundles, or more exclusive Next Generation titles. According to official statements Sony is also not interested in dividing their own community into two camps. This is of course also the already announced longer backwards compatibility of the PS5 in terms of PS4 games.

As announced in the recent investor meeting , the Japanese manufacturer is even going one step further. So you will not only be able to play older titles on the new game console, you will also be able to play them together with PS4 owners. Crossplay or better said Cross-Gen-Play is the keyword here. This should be especially positive for the players, who are playing with their PlayStation currently and in the future primarily in online multiplayer matches of Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legends and Co.

PlayStation 4 will continue for 3 years

Sony also has good news for those who may have recently joined a PlayStation 4 (Pro) . The group wants to offer the current generation for another three years and publish various AAA games for both the PS5, as well as for the PS4. Of course, with the added power of the PlayStation 5, players will expect much better graphics, higher resolutions, and more FPS on the next-gen console. The community stays together, at least for now.

Is the high performance of the PS5 needed right at the start?

To what extent the technological advancement of games could be slowed down, will only show up for the possible PS5 release in the next year 2020. The rumors have been circulating on the net for quite some time that titles like Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), due to their complexity, should not be suitable for the current generation of consoles and will need the performance of a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Two Scarlett . Of course you could also speculate now, if games with such a high demand on the hardware will be released after the "phasing out" of the PS4 (Pro) in the year 2022.
